Oil For RX-1

FYI: All new '05 Yamaha 4-strokes are coming with a new Yamalube synthetic blend 0W-30 oil, which is basically replacing the previous Yamalube 4-CW which was a 5W-30.

the more wide open throttle riding you do the more oil they use.so if your not using any oil    .i understand the r1 street bike uses oil in the same manner.

I don't know about that. I have the 03 R1 (Has the same motor as RX's), and it has never used a drop of oil. I also have a few friends with 02-03's, and they never mentioned using oil at all.

As someone else pointed out, it may have a little something to do with how much time is spent at WOT, but I still don't think oil consumption should be as bad as some people claim - Which sounds like it's using oil like a 2-stroke....

Most of our group ran 0-40 Amsoil last year with great results. Cold starting wis very good. Some ran 5-30 Mobile 1 with simular results. This year we are changing over to 0-30 Yamaha's new oil mainly for avaliability. We all are running the water heater by Yamaha this season.
