Just went to change the oil in my '07 Apex GT for the first time and I noticed some oil under it. The level was up to where it should be, so I took off the rt side panel and the hose that clamps to the bottom of the oil tank was wet, so I tightened up the clamp even though it was not really loose to begin with. I then started the sled to warm it up before the change. While it was running it looked like oil was coming out of the steel elbow that is bolted to the bottom of the tank. I cleaned it off an it reappeared. I then shut it off and cleaned it again and it did not leak with it off. Just for giggles I restarted it and it began oozing out again.

I wanted to know if I am crazy. It seems obvious that it is, but I wanted to know, is this part pressurized when its running and has anyone ever seen this part fail?

If you pull out the elbow you will find an rubber o-ring that can be replaced. It would be a good idea to remove the elbow because theres a screen that should be cleaned .

Nope. Not the o ring. It is coming right where the pipe makes an angle. Looks like it is coming right thru it. The o ring and flange and all areas ABOVE the elbow are dry.

It was the elbow. Leaking right thru it. I dont know it this is a result of it flexing from engine vibration or if it was just a defective part, but it bears watching. I would like to hear if anyone else has had this failure....
