I went to change the oil on my Nytro today and when i pulled off the bottom panel i had some oil all over it as well as the front of the motor is this normal I put about 2000 miles on it since the last oil change? is thisblow by from the air cleaner should i be worried :(

Thanks Dave

if it get's tipped on the left side it will vent oil from the tank into the air box and that will leak down the front of the motor. check your hoses and the plug on the tank to be sure those are okay. i don't think the new tanks are prone to cracking like the old RS model tanks.

Check you oil level correctly.. I was getting a lot of oil in my air box, and it would run down the front of the engine. Actually, the machine started to cut out when hot, and left me stranded a few times. I believe it was oil getting on the temp sensor in the box.. My fix was to add an overflow bottle and run my breather hose into that... Problem solved. I do this on every race bike that I own.. All these mods that everybody does, and yet most still allow warm air from the breather into the airbox.. hmmm? Look at any race machine, and you will not see overflows and breathers going into the airbox..

We noticed this right away in '08. I was told by my Yamaha guru that the dipstick is very conservative and not to run the oil all the way at the top. If you do and run it hard i.e., lots of WFO from racing, powder riding, etc, it will blow some oil out. I was under the impression that they were supposed to come out with a re-calibrated dip stick on the newer models. I guess not?

I wont go into detail with how low he told me to run the oil because people would freak, LOL. Just be assured the oil level is ultra conservative and find what level works for your style of riding.

Thanks guys

this helped a lot! took the air box off and it had a bunch of oil in it. bet i had a bit to much oil in the tank.
