Ok it happened again

You indicated you're a big guy. If your weight is just slightly biased the back end is going to swing around. Once that track is locked its stopping ability is pretty over, it will just slide. Then it is a physics equation of mass and speed before you stop.

Sometimes I have had to resort to my own antilock, where I pump the breaks. It is more effevtive than it sounds.

Thanks for sharing your story. I hate hearing about injuries and damaged equipment.

Thanks for all the concerns. I’m pissed that it happened a second time and pissed that I damage the Viper but better the Viper than 5 broken ribs again. I was off for 10 weeks with the ribs. Couldn’t do anything. I gained 25 pounds. I didn’t think I was following to close but going to stay way back from now on.

Happens to the best of us. I am hardly a reckless driver but 2 seasons ago I almost smoked a guy we were riding with - who decided to stop on the trail to talk to another oncoming sled blocking the entire path. Snow dust in the air like you described, no break lights and 60 mph closure. By the time I realized they were stopped , and tried to pump my brakes and locking it up, it wasn't stopping. Funny part was, that sled skidded bone straight as I was on/off the brakes. Thank god we were in an open area and I swung the sled off the trail crashing through the snow and and blasting through saplings. Thank god we were in an open meadow and not a forest

The funny part is - I was the bad guy in this situation. It never really sank in with that guy what he had done.

Ever since I am always aware of where I am on the trail before I slow down to stop. Lots of hand flapping now. Lol
