Huge mistake to not use the RX name. It has such strong and positive recognition. Could have called it the RX-FI or RX-4 but to let it go completely????????
I understand the new front end look and because it is functional and to fit the air box and radiator it needed to happen. Dzus fasteners is pure race car and race bike
Other minor gripe is some of the color choices and graphics. A little too boy racer, who is the type of guy who may not be able to afford these babies.
Exceptional engineering once again!!!
Wide endorsement of the fox floaters leaves no doubt as to the low risk of reliability in adding them if I keep my 05.
These sleds are going to need much bigger windshields than what they are showing. The rear storage on the rider forward sleds is great

i was disapointed with the lost of the RX name as well but apex is sure growing onme
i also taught yamah would come out with a RX-Venture

its not a very big one...just by the injectors i do so beleave...i never checked but i'm sure i seen that in print some where

Regardless of the name change I think the RX1 will retain the strong name it has for being the foundation to the 4 stroke industry. I also would have liked them to keep the RX prefix.

Rep at the show told me the the RX name is gone because they wanted to get over the rx ton image and move on......smart move.

Tanks are tanks no matter what name you give them. Here in town the city changed the street name in the getto to change it, guess what, its still the getto.

rx1 will always be known as the first awesome 4stroker...these new 4-strokes are rx1's "modified" version...same powerplant tho

I havent found a radiator pic yet but it is a great idea, especially for guys who stud where a rear exchanger can be a problem. Plus they have taken snow conditions partially out of the equation.

The weight really became more of a non issue with the 05's. So what they are trying to do is steal away the traditional non Yam buyer.

A car maker will often completely redesign a car and still give it the same name because they are counting on name recognition. Could you imagine Chevy in releasing the C5 Corvette calling it something other than Corvette because it was so much different than the C4????

That is not the same motor. The block, crank etc are all brand new

I'm a Chevy buff and right now they don't rank up very high on this name thing. Wait til the come out with the Bel-Aire, dumb thing will be a front wheel drive four banger. :(

Thats too funny and so true!

Some of you guys have underlined the point. Yamaha must have felt that that RX 1 had a negative image. So what they did in a way is cave in to the ignorant and uninformed. The RX is not a Bel Aire or a ghetto, it is a Corvette. The first Corvettes were pigs by the way. The 03 RX was a brilliant first effort and they were refining it very nicely

nice way of puttin it tork....cant say enough about how GOOD OF A JOB YAMAHA DID THIS YEAR....hey tork how many mpg do u think they'll get with fi?

The gain has been huge with cars and trucks. Possibly 15-20% I am sure it will out do the RS carbed sleds. Plus very easy starts and fuel savings there. A good battery just became more important though LOL

could it possibly be like 20-25mpg depending on how u ride? or how u calculate one of the two!! cant wait til the 3 banger gets injected...25+
