Well I might be getting a leftover 2011 since my 09 LTX is toast but even though my problem might have been just bad luck if I get a new yamaha on the fence also looking at 2012 F1100 Turbo LXR for only 800 bucks more, I will be going with a 1 inch track for my own peace of mind. I will and always will run studs IMHO its to dangerous not too where I ride in Maine and how I ride. What track should I go with? The Hacksaw 1 inch Ripsaw???? Ideas and what is a good amount of studs to run on the 128 inch tracks just down the middle and what size? Thanks and I probably will stay Yamaha since I do love the power and ride but then again I've never ridden anything else comparible to the new sleds. Thanks for all replies Mark

I would not use the 1" hacksaw, I ride my brothers sleds and they have the hacksaw and that track is not impressive at all. I would run a 1" predator if you find one.
I run a cobra on my attak with studs 1.450 and it rocks. A 1" with 150hp is going to spin a lot unless you run a lot of studs.

have you thought of the 1 1/4" prestudded ice ripper? personally i would never run anything less then 1 1/4 on these sleds, especially with this much horsepower and torque.
;)! .

you won't get much top speed if your just spinning the track and don't forget you need to add the weight of the studs to that 1" track which i would think has to be pretty close in weight as the prestudded, i've never weighed them so i'm just guessing. i know it's a no brainer for me, i'd rather have traction on all types of surface.

i think he was trying to stay away from studs because they where pulling thru and he thought the taller track was too close to the x-changers with the studs. if that's the case then the only option he has is the prestudded because they can pull out of the 1" as well. i've never had problems with either track with pullouts, YET( i hope i never do) and I have 1000's of KM's running studded tracks.

I'm going to be putting a one inch hacksaw on my 2012 cat this summer. But I'm going one step further I'm going with a 14 wide. I don't want to run the super long studs I'm running right now.

i put a 1 inch pre studded ice tech track on my 07 before this season and put about 700 or so miles on it loved it it was 5 lbs heavier then the ripsaw no studs so loss of speed due to weight was neglagable rode with 3 other apexes two with stock ripsaw i with hack saw no studs on any of them i felt like my sled was in complete control at all times and the little studs did there job on ice beter then i had expected. alot of people run the prestudded and love them i woud recomend it.
