The stock seat from my 03 RX-1 doesent have enough pading. What are my options? Are there aftermarket seats available, or can I do something with my stock seat to make it more confertible?

I have taken my stock seat off to an upholstery shop and basically asked them to add four inches of padding over the top and bun. they took the stock seat cover as a guide and replaced it with cold crack vinyl . I have the original 03 rx-1 mountain . My butt could not take the pounding any more. I am six three and the end of the seat was chewing me up pretty good after a 100 mile ride.I still could use a couple more inches of padding. If you look at the newwer mountain models they have copious amount of padding.
I did notice after upgrading the feel and view changed significantly.
there are a number of after market ( boss seats and a few others mentioned through out this website)

There are a few. One of the best that I have seen recently is to buy a seat from a Nytro and some handlebar risers and turn your RX-1 into a 140HP Nytro. Another simple option is an '05 Seat, though you will probbaly need handlebar risers there too. There have also been a few guys on here who added foam to their existing seat. Do some searches and you will get lots of results on this.

If thinking about changing seats, go with Boss. Firmer than Nytro seat.....built to each rider's individual weight; lighter than stock or Nytro.......by 8 to 13 lbs.; and cheaper too ;)! I did this change last month and I'm kicking my own butt for not doing it 3 yrs. ago :o|

Does it fit as well? I remember a group order of Boss seats on here a year or two ago and LOTS of complaints about fitting them on the sleds...

It IS very tight under the tank cover........I followed the instructions I got from Matt (The Speed Shop) and shrunk the foam in the front part of the seat with a heat gun......lightly. Then it slid right in, and I'm not very mechanically inclined..........I always figured that's what checkbooks were for :D

YUP!

I love my Nytro seat! Couldn't be happier and absolutely NO complaints, and I have a rear storage compartment again.

Yes, there are a lot of options, but ANYTHING is better than the '03 & '04 seat.

MountainMod seat

Apex/rx1 model, very nice and light and strong.

Fit and Finish is awesome.
