There's only one thing I do not like about my 2012 Vector LTX...the seat...particularly in the 2nd half of the riding season. The thing is just too darn soft! At 6'1", 230 lbs with gear on, I get the feeling I am sitting on a sofa, particularly in the second half of the season.
What are my options? Aftermarket? OEM? Upholstery shop?

I run a 06 Nytro seat on my Vector for the same reasons you have. it has a harder foam than the Vector seat. The Apex mountain seat also uses the harder foam.

I used a 2007 RTX seat that is so hard they could have skipped the seat and just made a seat shaped 25 gallon fuel tank to sit on. The hard seats have the bottom half of the cushion foam removed and replaced with cinderblock hard material.

How easily will an 06 Nytro seat fit? How about an Apex Mtn seat? What are your suggestions for getting one?

I personally prefer the harder foam. I can ride a three hundred mile day with less fatigue than on the softer seat. I find on the Apex with the softer seat I sit too low and my knees take a beating on long rides. I bought my seat from Port Yamaha because I could not find one at that time.

Handy,
How difficult was it to put the 06 Nytro seat on your Apex? The post originally was for a 2012 Vector so I'm wondering what the comparisons would be between the two sleds. Also what year was your Apex and do you know if a 06 Nytro seat would fit on the 2012 Vector?

The 2012 Vector has the same design as the 06 Nytro and the 06 Apex to 10 Apex. My Apex is an 06ER with supercharger. My Vector is my normal trail sled and I use it most often.

The seat on my venture I love. I am 300+pounds and can ride all day it is
to me what makes it the luxury trail sled.

Had my 06 APEX repack for about 85.00 bucks 4 years ago and was very happy with it.
