I'm looking to change out ALL the wheels in my Apex skid with some that have removeable/replaceable bearings-not the molded-in type like what came on the sled.

Would like to go with some that can just be bolted on, no machining to fit as I have read on other threads.

I don't care for the look of the Yamaha accessory "spoked" wheels, but if the bearings don't fail at 1000 miles, they'll do.

What wheels have you found to work well?

Thanks!

Why don't you wait until the fall and see what Yamaha comes out with and have them replaced under warranty.

Why wait for the same?

I will be removing the skid prior to summer storage and would just rather get it ready at that time.

I don't really believe Yamaha will step up with better idler and rear axle wheels, and cover them under warranty. Also, would rather have the ability to remove the bearings from the wheels if necessary. My current wheels are in great shape, just the bearings seem to be on their way out.

As far as the smaller accessory wheels go - my sled and three of my riding buddies (all Apex's) all have 1500-2500 miles on the spoked Yamaha style and have had zero problems with them. They do have replaceable bearings and are a straight bolt-on. With the rear wheels you could either go with the spoked Yamaha ones to match the small spoked ones or in the Yamaha accessory catalog Yamaha has ones that look just like the OEM style but the ones out of the accessory catalog have replaceable bearings and sell for around $30 each.

according to a dealer in southern maine, yamaha is working on a kit to replace all 6 smaller idlers on 06 skids to get rid of the bad wheels so im waiting for this fall instead of spending my money now, shouldnt have to replace them oursleves if the factory is making a kit to replace them

Wheel kit?

Wonder if this "kit" will have wheels with replaceable bearings?

Guess I'll hold off for a while and see if this kit becomes available.

I love yamaha, so don't get me wrong when I make the following statement, but I wouldn't hold my breath on a "KIT". Just like with the grips. I'm just repacing them my self so I know it's done and done right. It's a minor thing. I'm also replacing all my wheels. I have already baught a 8" rear wheel kit for my RTX. I have two flame billet flame wheels and two 8" black plastic for the center. I will next get the red spoke type yamaha smaller wheels next. Can't wait to polish the rails and replate the suspension components. Summer is usually fun for me.lol
