Best riding conditions possible today. -8C blue skiis;tons of snow & brand new groomed trails.
Finally got to run xtx on groomed trails.
#1..do not try to run xtx on any groomed trail with factory set up.
The limiters are out all the way & transfer rods are on full kill. It won,t turn & pushes like crazy.
Tightening limiters 1 or 2 notches; backing off transfer rods & tightening front shocks makes a massive diff.
I was seeing 9800 rpm,s holeshot climbing to 10,600 on top today.
This is probably the best yamaha factory clutching i have seen. I will be swapping out pink secondary @70 wrap for a white @60 because occasionely backshift would be a little doggy.
Fuel guage is funky. Read 1/2 tank after 35 miles(yikes) & it was topped right off.
After 65 miles had 3 bars left & this was very very hard driving. I think i will be getting 100 miles to a tank of very aggressive riding.
Sliders have very very minimal wear about 2/3 back.

Did some impromptu drag racing with buds back at test strip.Apex allways 100% of the time got the holeshot..every time. Actually in every race the lead increased.
Sleds raced were
2009 800 pt
1200 doo with header/pipe/fuel controller & clutched with 140 pound rider.
2010 backountry 800r
800 e-tech elected not to line up.

Sled has some serious balls & with some suspension tweaks(needs it badly) is a great trail sled.
Worked well in crotch deep powder also.

Thanks Turk ,,, sounds awesome !! I'll take your advise on the initial setup changes. What carbides are you running ?

Etec didn't want any Big Turk huh ? LOL ,,, Nice !!

Turk when you tighten up the front shocks, you acutally raise the front end of the ground more? recommend the same thing on last generation attak?

Turk, your nuts. I can't believe you would put yourself and your sled in a dangerous position like that. Sledding with skidoos is like when your kids are at the pool, you need a swim partner. What if, God forbid, all of those doos crapped out at once? What then.
Next time mister, you better ride safer and take one Yamaha for every skidoo. That way everyone makes it home.

Great to hear the new sled is working great.

Great to hear the new sled is working great.

This way all the Doo's are guaranteed to make it home. All Turk needs is several tow straps to tie all the doos together in tandem to tow them all home with the Apex.

:jump:

I went riding yesterday with my bro in law. I saw a ton of sleds but not many Yamahas. I think in the 55 mile local trek I took I saw half a dozen sleds getting towed our loaded up by road sides. All of them were Polaris's. At the end of the day we were crossing a road and "oh NO" there was a blue '99 SX700 with the hood up with two other Yammies. I pulled up to them and I said, "gee ,we are not used to seeing something like this". The guys laughed and said "first time out and we never used any Seafoam and it fouled a plug....that's all". oh well......that can happen to even a Yamaha.

Keep up the posts Turk, quite interesting.

Thats great Turk. Nothing better than waxing a few doo's at the beginning of the season. I didn't think you would see it come to life until 500 miles.

800 e-tech wouldn't line up? LMAO!!!!!!!! :jump:
