My 05 RX-1 has a stock 16" sno flap that always gets stuck in the track if backing up in deep snow.
The new style flap comes as a 12" or 16". I'd like to go with the shorter 12" but dont want it to make my sled overheat by not keeping enough snow in the tunnel.
Anyone see a problem with this or has anyone done this?
Plus the 12" is cheaper.
Thanks

I trimmed both flaps on my sleds, there is a thread about the flap trim mod, funny thing is this year Yamaha has the shorter flap on some sleds.
EDIT:
Here you go, BTW I have had no over heating issues at all.

Have trimmed 16" new style flap on my Warrior, have had overheating issues but that was due to frozen trails. Put 12" flap on my Vector as well, runs cooler than the Warrior. Thinking of switching back to old style 12" flap for the Warrior, suits the sled better IMO, and the new style is narrower also.
snow flap has nothing to do with it. check your anti freeze if it is not 50/50 your gonna have that trouble. some dealers put straight in them and it will not cool the motor. The heat exchaners are in the running boards and the flap has nothing to do with it.
Mine was the same way when I got it. It has never overheated again and I have had it out in May at 40 deg F for 200 miles.
