Has anyone painted their skid plate? Wondering if this would work painting plastic. Yamaha discontinued the red skid plate for Nytros and I can't find one. I think my only option would be to buy a white one and paint it red. Can plastic be painted? I have never done it.

Of course you CAN paint it, but it would never hold up for long. Khrylon makes good plastic paint if you wanna try it, but its gonna get scratched and worn off fairly quickly.

That's what I figured would happen. Not sure what to do, I don't want any color other than red

Don't do it. The skid plates are made with HDPE (high density polyethylene) and even if you scuff it, the paint is not going to stick very well. HDPE is impervious to most chemicals which is part of the reason it is used for skid plates.
