I discovered last weekend when riding that my boots had worn a hole thru the outer layer due to the rear suspension front mounting bolt. How did I find out, foot started to get cold and when I got back to our place I poured around 8 oz of water out out of my right boot.

I did notice a little wear on the insides of my Klim boots prior, didn't pay it much attention until then. Anyone else have this problem yet?

I picked up some grip disc from the local hardware store, stacked them and drilled out the center hole and mounted them. Plan on calling Yamaha tomorrow for a couple other things, I'll bring this up. It's really a simple fix for them, use a button head bolt...problem solved... ;)!

Good idea!Yes I noticed some wear on my boots. Those stirrups will shred a cover or your pants also if sharp edge is smoothed out.

Yea had the same thing happen to me, I ended up finding a allen head bolt that was smooth and tapered and replaced the bolt with that one. It still wears on my boots, but not as bad.

All I can say, if you've have/had this issue...call Yamaha. I got the standard BS response today, WOW I was the first to call Yamaha on this? So sick and tired of talking to Yamaha and getting, well it's because of the snow conditions or well that's because you squeeze the tunnel with your boots...WTF, I love the sled but at this point I think I'm done with Yamaha because of their canned responses.

They must think we are all complete idiots by the way they talk to us... #$%&*

I think they are still not used to the information age were people like us can easily talk back and forth about issues we've all had on a forum like this. Gone are the days were manufacturers can do that kind of stuff and pull it off. Were the only way you found out about others issues with these things were when you ran into others on the trail and talked to them about how they liked their machine. They just haven't figured that out yet and continue to try and handle it like the days of old.

Message to the manufacturers the internet is used for more than advertisements.

I trashed a set of boots on that bolt. Disn't say anything, didn't want people to think I was a complainer. lol

LOL, pick it up from the dealer and air it out...

No problem with mine yet.

Not only boots trashed after a 400 mile day. Bibs froze to tunnel from all the water comming out of the front hole in the tunnel. Bibs tore when i got off the sled. I closed the back hole after last years experiance. My 2007 fx has spent more time in the shop than out on the trail.
1- rear suspension broke from normal trail riding
2- cold start kit put on , did help but -it still does not like cold weather
3- overheats easy on hard pack trail at cold temps. below 15 degrees
4-reverse broke
5-loves to foul plugs. After 2nd time in shop and just starting it up and running it on to trailer. I learned you have to let it run for more than 5 min . I bought the 4 stroke in hopes i didnt have to change plugs. I didnt know it would take a half hour to get them out and put new ones back in.
6-bolt fell out of rear suspension
7-bolts under cover for belt, in front of sled. I belive to be engine mounts were loose. make sure you tighten those 3 bolts.
1500 miles on my sled and sorry to say it is going to go down the road and find a new owner. If i can get 4500 for the sled I will be lucky.

I never noticed the bolt, I looked at its location yesterday while riding, I don't really stand anywhere near it, my feet are on the outer rails for a good part.

my boots are taking a beating so and I never took the time to figure it out. Thanks a bunch for the thread, now I will fix it

#5 is strange. 4000 miles never fouled a plug. The others are all known issues.
