Looking to get a phazer for my daughter. I see a lot of 07's for sale. What's the difference between a gt and an fx?

If you are referring to just the 2007 models, the FX had clicker shocks, Ripsaw track. The GT had standard coil over shocks, hacksaw track, but it also had come nice wind flairs on the body panels. They don't look like much, but I have heard they work.
After about 7000 miles on our Phazer FX, I am just starting to shop for it's replacement. My daughter loves and it doesn't really want to give it up. Maybe I will just maintain it, and keep it for her.

Like said above shocks and track is only difference.
Plus windscreen size is larger on gt. Also gt has 20t top gear vs. 18t on fx.
You can pick them up for a decent price these days. I'm still amazed at how little people are giving these away for. Around by me it's about same price as a 2004 doo with 6000 miles on it. (What a joke)
Best of luck searching for a machine, and you know the place to go for yami research.... Here TY!

The part I love about the conversations about how much the 2007's were lemons, is looking at my daughters 2007 FX with 7000 miles! HA!
Those of us that spring ordered them in 2006, got the 5 year YES warranty for dirt, so this animal was under warranty and Yamaha took care of us. Not only all the updates, but when issues came up, they fixed them for us. This sled has been a rock other than the normal stuff.
If you are serious about getting one for your daughter, but sure to let her ride one. This sled needs some rider input. But once they get used to, they will love it.

That's the way we try to roll. There is something special about appealing to a 13 year old as they usually don't want to hang with the folks. When my daughter posts pictures of her weekend and her sled on instragram, then I know I have bridged the gap.
Here is a quick clip from one of our Family Fun Rides. There is even some footage from Macy's perspective on her phazer. Share that with your daughter and see if she lights up just a bit. You should see my daughter chat with the other lady riders at the stops. It's very cool. It seems like it inspires her to ride more.

Awesome thread!! The pros chimed in and pretty much nailed everything.
My $.02....
Fx may be your best choice as she grows into it and allows for more rider input with suspension settings. Opens the door for her to tinker with dad, not just ride it. Just make sure all the updates were done on the one you buy and you'll gas and go for thousands of miles knowing if she zips out for a ride an her own one time the reliability will get her home at the end of the day!!

The GT has softer springs so depending on weight that might be something to consider. The 07 GTs have aluminum rebuildable front shocks but no compression or dampening adjustments. The 08+ GTs have clicker shocks.
Really the suspension from a GT and the FX (or RTX as it became known 08+) are all interchangeable.
Also, for the first few years of production there was a Base model. Personally I'd stay away from that one as it didn't have reverse and the shocks were not that great.

All of the above points are very valid. I just had the shocks on her phazer rebuilt by HyGear and setup for her weight. It should not have surprised me, but she did notice the difference and mentioned that the shocks sucked up the bumps really well without rebounding like a pogo stick. She has no issues hammering through miles of bumps. She also likes standing on this sled for more control.
Funny you mentioned the 570 as the neighbor boys have a matching pair of them. Those are great sleds! The boys love them. What they don't love is the neighbor girl out running them with here 500. That EFI four stroke will wax the 570 fan easily. They give her crap about it sounding like an ATV.
I agree that the GT is a good call. Softer shocks and better wind protection. If they ride a phazer, get them good clothes! Macy installed a bigger windshield this winter and loves it. She doesn't like having to take it off each time we trailer as it is too tall for our enclosed Triton.

Ok guys. I move fast. Found a beautiful 07 gt. All my set ups have been done on apex's and my weight!!! Anyone have a spec sheet for set up!! Or how bout a starting point on front springs and rear for a 90lb girl???? I'm gonna assume at 90lbs I'm gonna make this thing as soft as the shocks will go? Let me know.Like said above shocks and track is only difference.

Yes, there are some torsion spring blocks in the rear of the skid you can back off to soft. You can also drop some pre-load off the front coil overs too.
I would recommend fulling in the limiter strap one hole from stock. If you have a manual you can see what stock is. It may already be done.
I have also moved the spacers on either side of the spindles to the inside of the spindle. This pushes the skis out and widened the stance just a bit
Good luck!
