Phazer for my daughter?

Preload up front is basically your ride height. Doesn't soften or stiffin shock.
To make things simple for her, i'd set skid in middle strap hole and adjust ride height in front from there. Depending on what carbides are in ski's will depend on steering ability. If there 6" ers you may have to much for her to handle pulling strap up one notch. I would suggest letting the front lightly push a little being a light young lady. Alot more forgiving if she starts pushing it too much. IF there's 2" carbides in front then you can lower the ride height up front to allow more ski pressure.
I know everybody says these things are tippy. And they are. BUT, with the right setting to lower the "grip" up front on skis can really help with that sudden and quick ski lift that can be scary and dangerous. Experienced riders will know that WOT will get you out of alot of situations cornering, bumps, whoopes. Having said that, IMHO, new riders would probably tend to let off the gas, hence heavier steering, more grip and possible tip over. If that all makes sense.
Adjusting ride height up front 1/2" at a time for me on my stock shocks did make alot of difference as a good starting point.

Not to sound like an idiot here. But are u talking about preload on the front skid shock? Or the ski shocks?

at 90lbs the stock shocks in the rear skid are not ever going to do well, IMO.

It is likely going to kick like a bull and eject your light rider off the seat, a lot.

07's had a lot of issues (if the updates/recalls were NOT done). Go to a dealer and get them to run the VIN# and find out.

If it was me, I would get both rear shocks re-valved, AND install a lighter centre shock spring for your daughter. Front end likely not as big of an issue. For stability, Schmidt Bros racing has a better swaybar, and if ground clearance is not an issue there are JRE lowered spindles.

Remember, the phazer is one of the tippiest sleds out there, and still can go 85+ mph... just a friendly caution. I personally would not let a 12-yr old ride my sled as is, I would modify it accordingly to make it safer.

Good luck and safe travels
Mike

oh and X2 what biffdotorg said, Phazer needs more rider input than most sleds. Dont get me wrong, it is the most fun I have had on a sled in my 20+ years of riding, but needs to be pushed! I have had opportunity to trade up to faster sleds (nytro, viper, apex) several times and said "pass".

I am ALWAYS the smallest sled in the group by a longshot and NEVER the guy bringing up the rear.

If you notice that there is some slop in the steering, look into installing UPBushmans steering kit. I have had his kit sitting on my bench for a month now, but have not found the time to install it.

I know it's an issue when Macy comes to me saying, the sled floats side to side on the smooth trails, but I don't notice it in the rough stuff. That's a good rider recognizing that the play in the handlebars gives the whole sled the room drift without handlebar movement! Not cool for a newbie. It can be remedied, and if you don't notice it yet, you will soon. They all seem to get it.

Don't let any of this scare you, as these can all be addressed. It's still a good call, we are making the suggestions you asked for.

i would make sure carbides are good. Don't set the front shocks too soft, making it more tippy for her. I'd set them in middle of spec. Because when you left off going into corners it nose dives and may lean to much for her. (Depending on riding style)
Also if there is a sway bar on it still, there are adjustments for that to help out ski lift in corners. I can check book if you don't have one.
In skid. I'd pull strap 1 or 2 notches. Helps put pressure on skis. Put torsion blocks on medium first. See if she likes it, too bouncy go to soft. If it's still bouncy, you can loosen the front skid shock.
Ok that's enough rambling by me, hope you understand.

I don't think 07 skid shocks are rebuildable so I doubt you can have them revalved.

Sorry should have said the 07 GT skid shocks are not rebuildable. The FX had better shock which were rebuildable.

I just finished adjusting the suspension. It's gonna work great. She was helping the whole time. The nice thing is the gt is set up softer than the fx. This sled fits her great. And she's been riding since 4 years of age. She can trail ride 200 miles a day now and will go boobdockin w us on that z570. This is gonna be an awsome upgrade for her.

Great to hear father daughter time tinkering on toys!! That's awesome. Kids n I call those days "daddy days"!!
