I've just recently installed the shim between the sheaves to remedy the reverse shifting problem. After taking it apart and looking closely at the inside of both sheaves I see a whole bunch of small cracks starting near the hub and working their way outwards on the face of the sheave up to 1" long. Probably as many as 30 cracks, not visible from the outside.
Has anyone experienced similar problems? All the clutch settings are stock and there are only 1200 kms (720 miles) on the sled.
BTW the reverse shifting works beautifully now.

are you sure they are actually cracks or just casting marks? I had a similar thing on my 05 kodiak and they turned out to be nothing.

Take some fine emery cloth to them, and see if it is just casting markings. If they are the emery cloth will all but remove them.
