not sure if dealer ran it for 15 minutes for no gas in it and saw them put a few drops in and check the oil. took 30 seconds for them to start it so i assume it was never running untill i showed up to get it. SO... what do i do to break it in? have it sitting in the back yard and both excited and nervous at the same time. what do you suggest? follow the manual instructions to the letter? or ride it like you stole it?

I was told by a rep to let it warm up 10-15 minutes to full operating temp.(I watched a guy with a new FST pol, it took that long to get to full operating temp 150 with outside temp 25) Follow the book no PROLONGED rpm over 6,000 for the 1st 100 miles. No prolonged over 8,000 rpm for the next 200 miles. He said it ok to open them up but no real lake blasts. I took mine up to 10,500rpm for a few seconds then backed off (after 200 miles). Vary your throttle up and down (dont hold a constant speed).

Take it easy the first hundred miles...."Normal Trail Riding" the next couple hundred, then ride it like you stole it ![Rockon  ](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/rockon.gif)

No prolonged throttle pulls and no constant speeds, vari it. But do give it full throttle blips for several seconds every so often.

I broke mine in like I stole it! According to what I have read its important to break it in quick or the rings dont really seat properly. I have 93 miles and last night in the trails was the first time it hadn't been railed on. My breakin was done in an open field WOT for 1500 feet or so then turn around and do it repeatedly for about 20 mins then take it back and let it cool down. Next day do the same until you have 50 miles. Don't go racing across a lake the first 100 miles or so.

Where did you get the info on breaking a sled in quickly? I have heard reports of this, but have never seen an articles by racers or general engine rebuilders. I would feel uneasy about doing it until I read some facts on it. Anyone have anything? Thanks..![4strokes :4STroke: :4STroke:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/4strokes.gif)

I would heat cycle the engine 2-3 times to provide sufficent thermal stabilazation. Then I would go out and seat the rings pretty hard. No PROLONGED wide open, but enough to seat them good. Like the moto tune method many talk about. I think the heat cycling is important. No reason to seat rings to a bore that is changing shape without the heat cycling. Thats my opinion anyway.
