I bought the 11 Apex XTX. Not sure why 9 gallons U.S. is a problem? I have not ran into anywhere in 3,500 miles where I was worried about fuel.
8 gallons imperial at even a low of 15mpg will get you 120 miles. I have gone 100 miles on a tank more then once but what i saw on a Nytro was make two flat pieces of metal (alluminum) with a bent up lip on each side (same width as plastic gallon gas jug) to keep the tank from sliding off the running board and four square U bolts (round will work) one in front and one behind each jug to bungie them down bolted to the metal pieces line with rubber mat acroos bottom and up in front of tank and behind to protect tank from rub through on bungie hooks.
Bolt flat peice to running board without going through the heat exchanger. Bolt lip to side of tunnel so its level. Most of the weight will rest on the running board. Gets you two more gallons!
