Im picking my new leftover 2014 Viper XTX in the next day or two. im wondering if anyone can tell me what I should be asking my dealer if they checked or updated while building it?

Also wondering what most guys are running their rear float at for air pressure? Im about 235 without gear.

Front Shocks 65 lbs. Rear shock 130 lbs. I'm 210 without gear.

make sure the reverse actuator mod is done, check all coolant hose clamps, check fuel hose as per recall, and tell them to check for broken tabs on the chain case cover, we had 3 come outa the crate with broken tabs

recall that came out last year to prevent it from jumping into neutral while sled was in motion

Picked it up today! All updates were done. CAN'T WAIT FOR SNOW!

And your son will love riding with you too. Memories that you and he will never forget!

Mid height clear windshield will give him more protection and allow better vision for him. Something to think about.

Rt. Viper LTX DX stock mid height windshield, Lt. Viper LTX SE with high windshield. When and if you ride long distance, 100+ miles between stops, there is a tremendous difference in comfort level compared to the low sport windshield delivered on the SE. Only get harassment once, until they see or feel the difference in windscreens. If you ride shorter distances between stops not an issue with short windscreen.

I'm curious which one you feel rides better? The viper with the floats or the one with the coil over shocks?

The first LTX purchased was the DX at the recommendation of the Yamaha Engineering Rep. and my dealer. The front rode great the back suspension was a little stiff. I had ordered the Yamahe aftermarket rear spring adjusters which give you four vs three spring adjustment setting on the torsion bars. When new the rear was set to position 2 once brokein the rear adjusters went to position 3 where they are set now. The suspension is supple, responsive and comfortable for long rides. My wife rode it for 12 miles and my DX riding days were over. Three days later we went to our dealer and she bought me the only Viper that they had left, the LTX SE. Compared to the DX the SE was brutally stiff. I have disc issues in my neck so I found the SE almost painful. It took longer for the Floats to to breakin than the SX shocks, nearly 300 miles and at one point I thought they were going to work for me but they just never got comfortable for me. Remember I'm 63 years old, so please take that into account when you read this analysis.

I have purchased AXIS pro spring shocks for the SE and I am expecting great things this year. I never did get to ride with them last year. I need to do the rear soon but having the front shocks less stif should make riding much more comfortable.

Hope this answers your questions.
