I agree, but my concern is with the 03's you had alot of places to loose weight--battery, skid, tunnel extension, seat, a-arms, hood, brake, track etc. All these areas have been lightened up for 06' and seems the sled weight is about the same. 596+65fuel+10oil+10coolant= ~681 with little room for a diet--is this sled just big boned?

That big track and suspension will ad some weight, and knowing yamaha there are still lots of places to save some . Bet you the drop brackets are solid steel, and the exhaust is titanium can anyone explain that logic to me.
All in all a very nice sled, the best part is the fuel injection it is about time.

The apex has a rear heat exchanger,it also will have storage in the back part of the seat as well as a gas rack, the radiator still isn't finalized, the hood and side panels all come of with Zues fasteners. The hood doesn't hinge,it comes right off and doesn't weigh any thing, the windsheild is held on by five plastic screws,so there is no head light cover to replace when you flop it on it's side. The exhaust tips are angled out away from the cargo area.the drop brackets are really light in comparison to last years. When look at how many improvements and it only went up a grand?

The production tunnel is ONE PIECE and has NO Rivets. There is no rear heat exchanger, there is a radiator on the RHS of the steering hoop with an electric fan.
The Lightweight seat took $90,000 to develope (!), and will have nice storage.
Also, wet weight full of fuel is LESS than the other guys.
