I'm thinking about putting on some 2007 double carbide pilot skis on the RS Venture for next season to help make the steering easier. I know folks have put on the 5.7 skis but are there any downfalls in using the 6.9 wider skis?

Weltracer did an awesome job writing up the standard Pilot skis. Did you see his report? click here for his report

Yes I read that about a week or 2 ago. Thanks anyways. The report doesn't say to much about the 6.9 except they would offer better flotation than the 5.7. Does anyone think there will be any downfalls to the 6.9 on the Venture.?

I am not sure about the downfalls but it is nice when the wider skis keep your front end up in the deep stuff

I think you'd be better better off getting the 6.9 inch skis. If you take a look at the 2007 Ventures' skis, they are considerably wider than the other RS sleds. I think they are the Mountain skis, but don't quote me on that.

Go big, or go home! ;)!

wider stance (>48") is the only downfall for trailering or pickup beds.

I have the 6.9 pilots on a RS venture (and a mxz renegade) and they work great - also order the ski-doo rubber for the yamaha spindle. search for the pn on this site.

Steering effort is much lower with the ski-doo's right out of the box.
I also think it floats better - but these sleds could use 12" wide ski's for flotations sake...
