Just bought this sled and going through it. I noticed immediately that the plug wires under the coil packs don't "Click" onto the plugs very well, they almost fall onto them. One you can actually see vibrating when the engine is running. Is the only solution replacing them, I pulled the rubber boot off, soaked with WD40 trying to get that little spring loosened up but it looks right, it just doesn't fit onto the plug. The plugs are the factory plugs 9r whatever's. Are the plugs supposed to have that little round piece on top....I might be answering my own question here. Right now the plugs have the exposed threads on top. This was the way they where on the sled when I bought them and the way they came out of the box for the new ones from the Yamaha dealer.......Does everyone have threads showing on the plugs or do they have the little round nubby screwed onto them. Seems if the nubby was on they'd fit right....suggestions, comments?

Threads are to be exposed. take boots off coils and try to clean.

Thanks,
Sounds like this was a problem in 03' models but I never read anything about the problem being in the 04' models. I'll have to jimmy rig something to get them tighter, don't plan on replacing four of them at $75+ a piece just because they're loose, I'm sure I can figure something out .....

Just my .02 cents here, I had the same problem with mine, I took the orings off and found some thicker o rings to put around them, then lubed them up with white lithium grease and that took care of my arcing problem which also took care of the looseness

I've heard others use O rings as well, I don't have any O rings on it, but I heard others put one on the outside of the boot up near the top so it fits snug into the valve cover hole, eliminates the vibrating. My plugs aren't actually loose due to arcing on the threads of the plug as many stated was the problem on the 03's, it's just a poor cap design where the little spring inside simply doesn't put enough pressure on the plug. As such I think I'm going to try to pry that little spring out a little, jam something behind it, put an O ring on the outer boot and grease it up.
