i pulled the 6 bolts out to pull the primary cover off and it was a struggle to get it off. finally pulled off the cover and the bushing is a little torn-up.
should i have pulled the main bolt out to make it easier or is pulling the 6 bolts out fine? should i see about getting a new bushing if i can or a new cover if i cant get a bushing? I have never messed with pulling the cover off before on this machine and i bought the machine new. plus there was alot of aluminum shaving and belt dust. anybody have a problem like this? the clutch runs great and the belts last a long time. also should i replace the sliders for the spider? thats where alot of the aluminum shavings and belt dust was collecting. any info would be great. its an 09 xtx with 1200 miles
thanks

The washer on the main bolt was probably what caused the cover to not come off. You need that bushing at least cleaned up so it moves freely on shaft. Take the main bolt off and grind the washer a little to make sure next time the cover slides off . The rest of the clutch should be fine, blow out with air hose, look for worn rollers ,sliders should be good with only 1200 miles.Weights need to move freely .Why did you take cover off ? Hope this helps . Dave

You should replace that bushing . You will get more miles between rebuilds if you keep the clutches clean , blow out with compressed air at least two times a year

Anyone know how easy the old bushing will come out and a good way to put the new one in without damaging it..Mine is scuffed up pretty bad mostly from installing monster primary springs.Just paid $50 Can for a new Bushing and i would hate to mess it up trying to put it in.
You will need a small press to R/R or atleast I did.

Thanks guys
I was replacing primary spring. I replaced the bushing with a new one and loosened the main primary bolt so the lock washer didn't ruin the new bushing.

Used a dead-blow hammer and a socket to get the old one out. Use a flat piece of wood and hammer to put the new one in.
Good to know I was afraid it was going to wreck the bushing doing it that way.
