i instaled my proline kit i got from bounty and was wondering what wrapp it should be at. it has the red primary and black secondary. the box helix came in had written on it 6 and 2. so i set them at that and went riding. rpm sat at 10500 most of the time i would hit it. came back from 15 minute ride and primary was quite warm and secondary was smokin hot. i bumped up to 100 degress wrapp and it getting closer to revin the 10800 or so, getting really close to 11000. to me it never pulled as good thou and i never checked clutch temp. the last setup i was running was with the 38-20 weight heelclickers and the clutchesw never ran warm at all. i was really hoping the proline kit was a plug and play.rpm,s seem close but i really dont like the temps off the clutches

Proline kit

I would say your about 300 RPM out. I had that Proline kit for 3 weeks when it first came out in Jan 2006.sold it here on this site..I ended up wrapping to 6 and 3 >> 90 degree.s .watch you don't get the secondary sheave's to hot it will draw out your inner bushing split your sheav's draw down your belt,,and your helix, buttons everything will self distruct.. sounds to me like your Primary spring is weak. discard after 2000 miles.Bill

Got any studs? What Primary spring is in it. Lower Engagement one? You should be running to 10,800-10,900RPM

Red secondary set to 80 deg.
Black Secondary set at 110 deg.
Mine is Grey but identical to Black so I assume set it to 110 deg. as well.

Original BLACK in the kit should be at 110.

NEW RED from DALE should be at 80.

reason is...that the original black John had made for the kit came thru with TANGS in wrong position....the spring is correct but tangs were off,so just needed to be wrapped to 110 which is SAME AS 80 on spring with proper tangs.

you should hit about 10,700 or so,then get up near 11000 on roads/ice.

ok i will try 110. so for sure all the black secondary in his kits should be at 110?

yep...110 for the black original only....

I ended up buying a new RED from DALE for my kit,and also the new RED primary spring from Dale(low engagement) which is what Im running now.

not sure of you remember all the HUBUB when the kit came out,as many were waiting for it....then when it hit the new owners everyone was freaking out, cause it wasnt revving right....the directions said to wrap at 80 i beleive...

so John finally found out that the maker of those black springs had the tangs in wrong positions.....and then the word got out to wrap to 110 and all was well.

I had an original and John Wheelock told me to wrap it at 6 and 3, 90 degrees, not 110. Dan , you are right in one aspect, because the original directions said 80 degrees. Where are the tangs located on the sec spring? That will tell us, what springs you have.

Dan is correct. If you have the black secondary (as I do) wrap it to 110. If you have the red secondary wrap it to 80.
