Please for the love of God tell me that you think the 2014 ProCross will be Yamaha powered, please, please, please. Rebadging the Cat will be way more cost effective than boosting the Viper. Decals, snow flap, bar pad, gauge cluster and a few random scuffs, who would know the difference. Could have the 180hp I want with warranty and preferred colors. Hell ....might beat Yamaha at their own game!.
Even if it is it won't have boost. Besides the motor isn't the issue the belt blowing, and crappy quality

You must be excited to hear that it is a Nytro motor in the new viper to start six threads on the same topic! Lol, have a good night.

My bet is that the AC ProCross sleds will be turboed using the Suzuki engines, while the naturally aspirated ones getting the Yammy engine.

This is my guess as well.

I guess the 14 turbo cat will depend on how many ZUK motors they have left?
We all know cat and ZUK are done, so this will be interesting going forward as I am a current 2012 procross turbo owner.
Even if cat has enough ZUK motors left for turbos for 14 MY, what about MY15?
My guess is MY14 procross NA will be a yammie triple with good ole yammie clutches, and cost less then the viper(especially in canada) unless cat and yammie have some sort of pricing agreement to keep the playing field level.
Now when it comes to the turbo this gets interesting! I would guess that the MY14 turbo remains same as 12/13 procross turbos using up all the remaining ZUK 1100s. Then for MY15 you will see a viper and procross both the same with the nytro motor boosted. Now the only remaining question will be....will they try to mount a turbo behind motor? (no room IMO with fuel tank ect) Or will they mount a turbo on right side where exhaust can is? ( a definite possibility) OR.....will they go with a supercharger which would IMO work/fit much better with the viper triple configuration. And lets remember the SC does not have all the heat issues. Im sure yammie can write the ECU to get decent fuel economy with a SC in trail riding.
For me i like this....being a procross turbo owner, who has dumped some bucks into it to work thru the bugs, this is my fave sled to ride Ive ever owned on the fast trails its just sick, turned up to powertrail with my turbo dynamics 4 stage nothing pulls like this monster! The fact cats ECU was easily written too by TD, and cost me very little to get to 260hp and 134mph at will makes me wonder what will happen with the new cats/yammies.
The way I see it, my sled might become worth alot more by MY15 if the new big cat/big viper SC or turbo is Yammie ECUd. The ability to "turn up the boost for cheap" will be gone. Sure their will be piggyback systems out but nothing works as flawless and SAFE as an ECU flashed direct with knock light, timing pull, and boost adjust. I get 17mpg all day long on ecotrail at 210hp and put cheapo gas in without worry. then turn it up to powertrail 240hp on the fly with 91 pump and watch the knock lite for long pulls. No worries. Its the rest of the cat junk chassis and drive train that is the problem, not the motor or turbo.
So maybe the 12/13 cat turbos that right now are worth nothing IMO(due to all the issues, just read HCS turbo section) will end up being the ones worth a ton for tinkerers like me who need the speed!
