RTX 144 trail studs. Spins to 10,800 to 11,000 quick, spins track but seem to have lost top end. 108 on dream meter after a long run. secondary wrapped 2,9. Alum rivet in primary. Both cool to touch. Any ideas?

About 10.5 on center. belt deflection is good. Creeps on stand. When I wrapped secondary, I only went just far enought to get back on bolts. 1st Yamaha in a long time. Maybe I wrapped helix wrong? But track spins to about 60 mph. Conditions are 20 degree and packed snow. Used to go 117 on dream meter.

check your secondary spring. with the straight tangs it should be at 9 and 2 and it's difficult wind it to where it needs to be if it went on easy it may not be right.

If you can not get the sled to hook up this kit will do nothing for you.

How do your primary sheaves look?? I found with the aluminium rivit in tip it would slip the belt.

You can not compare speeds unless you run the same track, in the same conditions, on the same day. I guarantee you did not loose speed from the kit if your turning the proper rpm. You may not pick up speed from the kit, but you will not loose any speed. Kit was designed for acceleration in trail conditions. Clutching will not change ctr to ctr.

c to c

no clutching will not effect the c to c but if you c to c gets pulled to close by a better power transfer this will kill your top speed. as the belt will not get pulled as far in to the secoundary clutch there for you will not get high gear and you will start out in a higher gear as well thjs efects belt defletion that some are takeing up by ajusteing the secoundary washers but still no high gear that has been lost till the c to c has been correted. this i found out on my own as after doing air box mods pulled like mad fod a couple of runs then dead checked clutching jetting took sled to dealer they found nothing. and we were told that this could not happen as the moter was mounted soild with no ajustment after getting it back from the dealer with no positive results took it back to the shop took off all the covers looked it over good and just then it hit me check it any way. as it had been checked it when it was new and it was good then, but now the gages would not even fit on to the sled. had to losen off yjr thee mounting bolts and move the moters forward. and walla top speed came back 140+ on the d/m again c to c effects trans ratio

After 5 years on Doo, I could of wrapped secondary wrong? Black Spring has 2 tines. (they line up directly under each other) put one in #2 in casting, #9 in helix. turned apporx 1/4 turn and lined up on 1st set of bolts. Was easy to do, left it on sled.
Run like a bullet to about 60. Then no backshift on and off. Spins 10,800 to 11,000 from start to let off. Tomorrow someone at Proline will find my problem I am sure. 108 on Deam meter on Hard pack lake, 20 degrees, I must of did something wrong. I saw 122 on Dream meter early in the day when it was warmer with stock clutching. My Center to center tool was not with me, tape measure is not a good measure for this. Will check next, if I can't find the problem. I am not knocking the kit, was trying to get it fixed when Proline was closed during weekend. Thanks for the imput!

I have spent a lot of time and done a lot of testing, unless traction is optimal you will not see any gains over stock on the shorty.

Ireally had to wrestle the spring to get it on, maybe it's me but doesn't sound right that it went on that easy.

Very true, everything has to be equal. You can run a different area were the snow is slow and makes a big difference for top end. Yamaha's are very finiky about that. Mike, does wrapping that secondary so tight prevent it from winding out all the way ?

I wondered the same thing when i installed it, looked like it might bind. Seemed to work good on the trail but have not done any top speed runs. I need to find some hard pack. I think a lot of traction will be needed to get it to shift out fully.
