This week I dropped my skid to have my shocks revalved. Just starting to notice the shocks fading after 3200 miles of hard riding....not bad. I was amazed to the quality that went into the design of the skid on my Nytro. Every bolt took some degree of torque to loosen it. My skid looked the same as the day I took it home from the dealer over a year ago. If this is any indication of what's to expected of my Nytro, this maybe the last sled for awhile. My poor buddy has had to do some re-enforcing on his 07 REV's skid already. That further proves that this sled is the answer to all ditch pounding.....mogul mashing riders out there. SO far the only ones I hear complaining about their Nytros are the guys that ride groomed trails. Hate to burst bubbles, but Yamaha designed this sled for us serious lets have fun kinda guys. Man, imagine that....3200 miles and no blown belts, and no down time. I still look back and thank my lucky stars I went with my Nytro instead of that POS XP.

One thing you'll want to keep an eye on.

Last winter, on my RTX, the fitting on the front skid shock from the reservoir backed out of the shock itself. This happened on a 3 day, 850 km trail ride and went unnoticed at the time until I got off trail and obviously had no suspension. After it backed out, it spent some time beating off the shock itself just about destroying it:

It then got caught around the wheel adjacent the reservoir, got pulled back where the fitting basically almost destroyed the cross shaft the shock mounts to:

As well as the rail:

The track also got shredded before the fitting busted off the hose.

Thankfully, it was all replaced under warranty, including the track, shock, rail, shaft and a bunch of other small pieces that had seen the wrath of that fitting. This was on a sled that saw very little abuse and happened on an uneventful, immaculately groomed trail run. Just something to keep your eye on when doing pre-run checks. I'm constantly adjusting that shock and still managed to miss it.
