Should be able to resize a picture right on your own computer, for example open your pic (dbl click on the pic) in Microsoft Photo Editor and go to Image at the top and resize option is right there in the drop down menu. Might have to play with it to get the right size to fit the Avatar.

even paint does it. just find the resize option. it depends on what year you have. With windows 7 it right on top in the Home tab. select pixels and type it in and save. your good to go.
