Hi. I am changing the oil and filter for the first time and i have a question. the manual says to add 2.1 qts of oil to the oil tank and then start the machine and let it run for a few minutes and then check it again and add til the dipstick is on the F mark. why would you only add 2.1 qts if the manual says the total quantity is 4 qts? wouldnt it be bad to run the machine with only 2.1 qts if it is suppose to have 4qts? The oil tank is the only place that oil gets added correct? I know like on my atv you add oil to the oil tank and the motor thats why i ask. Can someone clear this up for me. sorry if this was a dumb question.

To circulate the oil through the engine, the filter, and the lines.....you cannot put too much in the oil tank at one time or it might go out the overflow. So fill it with 2-2.5 quart..start sled, run it to normal operating temp...then shut er down. Let it sit for a few minutes on a level surface. Take a look at the dip and see how much it is down (don't screw the dip in, just rest it on the first thread). Add about another 1-1.5 quart. Start sled (to circulate)...let it sit for a few, measure again at dip, and add as needed. Good luck!
