HOW MUCH OIL DOES THE VECTOR TAKE?
Here is what it says in the manual
Oil quantity
with oil filter replace
3.0L or 3.2 qts
without filter
2.8L or 3.0 qts

Total amount
3.7L 3.9 qts

What Total amount? wouldn't that be oil and filter, but the numbers dont add up. any one else run into this?
:o|

Total amount is the amount that would be needed to refill it if it was completely disassembled and then put back together. When you change the oil and filter you don't really get all the oil out of the motor. Some will be left inside in some of the oil galleys and oil lines and any other areas were the oil can sit and not make it all the way down to the oil drain area. Hope that helps. To do the oil and filter change use the 3.2qts. to fill it back up.

Another helpfull hint.. Take off the oil cap on the motor when draining....... Do not put any oil back into this hole.. Just the side main oil tank.. MM ;)!

Do any of you guys run Synthetic oil. and if so will it matter that there is still .7 of a qt of the regular stuff in there. I am assuming Yamaha sends them out with regular 0w-30 in them

Yammy sends them out with the new 0-30 semi syn oil.. That's what I'm using... Have not used any oil yet.. Started very good at -20. Most guys put a few miles on before switching to full syn oils.. Hope this helps. only 5 more months before snooooooooooooooooow. ;)! MM.

Do they have there own oil or is another brand. being the first oil change I like to use what they use.

For peace of mind go with the yammie lube 4-S 0-30 semi syn.. It's not cheap.. But I've always had good luck with yammie oils.. You can always change to a full syn oil next year if for some reason you don't like the yammie oil..I figure if they put it in at the factory, they must trust it... MM. :yam:

What that 4-s go for? I just paid 15.00 for a filter. My sled only has 275 miles but I was going to change it and then again at 600.I dont like the idea of letting it go to 500 after sitting all summer, cant hurt

List is about $6.95... per quart. I can get it for alot less at snow shows.. MM.
