I saw some Canadians in Munising that had 4"x4" orange packets on their belts. They inflate if you go swimming because the ice broke. I can't find out where to buy them. Anybody know??

Thanks right arm. I'll try that, but I did a search, and couldn't find anything like that. The Canadians said they ride a lot of ice, and they need them.

RX1Yooper try Cabela's they might not have that exact model but they do have some excellent ones that are slim go over your jaket and as soon as the device scences water it inflate's within a second and you can also get them in different weight application. They support your whole upper body to keep your head and chest above water, the ones you seen where like a fanny pack would only make thing's worse because they would inflate at the back side and cause your upper torso to be forced in the water. :D

Nope, if you're in the water, and trying to climb out onto the unbroken ice,... this is EXACTLY what you need. You need all the help possible to get your butt / legs up and out of the water, even if it is at the expense of your upper body.

I have a different question; Why would Canadians want to ride in the UP :?

why not . it get kinda blah always ridding the same trails here
so why not go see somthing different.. ????????

its cald travaling man ... some go to cuba some go to the up...

I hear ya, it's just that I hear the trails are so much better in Canada. I have a few buds that backed out on me for the 21st in Munising saying they will only ride in Canada from now on. They rode in Wawa and claim it's the same driving distance for them to either place and don't want to screw their backs again on ungroomed UP trails. Funny thing is, they have REVs

JDKRXW if you had taken an ice safety course which it sound's like you haven't you would know from the instructor's to kick your leg's to help prop you up on the ice. It's very rare that when you go through that you're that close to the edge.

Thanks for all the input, guys.

Canadians come here to find some bumps. It gets boring riding on a perectly flat surface.

I have been in Canada several times, and will be going to Dubrieville this year. I love that place. Less congested than Wawa. Motel, bar, and restaurant, all in one.

If yur are that concernned about floatation, get a floater suit. That will keep you up. But you still only have about 15 min. with the suit on before hypertermia sets in.
