Looking at a Phazer as an additional sled.
Wanted to touch base with guys who know them....
Are there any years from 2007-2010 that varied greatly. I watch them used on kijiji and here in Canada seems like you can get a sled with well under 6-8km for $4500 range. Aside from usual things that wear on sleds (a-arm joints, bearings in skid, exhaust donuts and 8000km,) is there any other items I should keep my head up about?

Has this sled had a disposition to create problems in certain areas?

Any comments would be welcome.
Thanks
MS

I know the 08's and up seem to have a few less glitches than the 07's. but generally a good "fun" machine! My wife wouldn't trade hers for anything! (well almost anything ;) lol

08' = 80% of the updates came from the factory including the billet link, cold start update, rear tunnel closed off (tunnel close off might be an 09' add on)
09' = Added an even beefier W-arm
10' = Starters FINALLY got lock-tite so the long bolts don't come loose, beefiest W-arm, updated gounding block
No updates from 10' on

Pair of 07 mtn lites with 8000+ km on one and 6000 km + on the other without any major issues (front end bushings + 1 circlip popped off on the secondary clutch on one machine + grounding block issue). Ridden in low / marginal snow riding 99.9% off trail with lots of harsh conditions ... tunnel holes completely blocked off and exhaust outlet relocated to dump under the tunnel .... picked up three more 07/08 Phazers for the kids / friends.

Picked up the 07 FX for $3900 with 700 km (first time I could use the term MINT for a used item), 08 RTX with 700 km for $4500 and 08 mtn lite with 1200 km for $4500. 6000+ km sled should be closer to $4000 or under

Check the alloy frames on both sides for impact damage other than that there's not much to watch out for other than general maintenance items depending on condition. 07 with updates completed is comparable to newer years (other than W arm in skid).

I notice there isn't as much griping about the skis on this sled as the nytro. Is it a dart prone sled, or does it handle pretty good. How is push in the corners. Would a dual keel ski be advised?

Thanks for the input guys.
Ms

set of aftermarket skis will be the fix for steering issues. as far as tippy, that's in your chassis setup.

I would install tuner skis cuz they do dart quite a bit,it takes time to get used to the handling also but it is a lot of fun,no major issues for me,my wife put on 24000 km and still going strong, but we are selling and upgrading to a vector for her next season,or whatever is coming out for 2014

Hey pat,
I chuckled at your post. The reason I am asking around about the phazer is that we have a vector, it's my wife's sled and she's not exactly in love with it.

She's only 5"4" and 110 lbs, so it's a bit of a bear, especially in our tight trails around here. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome sled, I enjoy running it, mainly up north on the more open trails though. When the weight of that sled starts going where you don't want it, it can be tough to influence especially for a woman. Definitely look at the newer eps models, that has to make turning way easier on the bod.

I have an 09 vector with 21000 km on it,my wife drives it sometimes and she loves it,we ride lakes and wide open trails,go to cochrane cpl times a season so you can imagine how she feels on the phazer,it'll cruise at 100 Kmh at the expense of high revs, she wants my sled and gave me the green light for a new sled for next season, can't wait to see what's coming
