Can this steering block be swapped out without removing the oil tank?

I want to upgrade all 3 blocks. I have my sled pretty well torn down and I have clear access to the 2 on the vertical steering post, but I'm not sure if I'll have enough wiggle room with the oil tank in place.

Thanks.

I changrd mine and only had to take the bolts off to move the tank a little . I did not have to remove any hoses or drain any oil.

I'm planning on changing the two plane bearings on the steering colum, did you have to remove the fuel tank to access these?

I don't see how you could get the lower steering block out witht the gas tank in place. I think the engine would block access to it.

I pulled my tank a couple nights ago. It was pretty easy. There is a thread around here instructing you how to disconnect it and remove it.

With the tank off you have clear access to the lower steering block, and you can check on your exhaust donuts as well.

Thanks, that's what I thought. My sled is a 2006 Rage, but the microfishe look similar.

I just took my OFT billet steering blocks off last night, after 2200 miles they still look new! You can get the front one on and off without unbolting or moving the oil tank! The gas tank has to come off for the others.

Thanks Snowpromod.

I was debating whether or not to start bolting things back in that I had removed for my oil filter change. I wasn't sure if I could swap out that forward block with the battery tray or the oil tank in place.

If it can be done with the oil tank in place, I don't see why the battery and tray would have to be out. I'd like to start making my pile of parts look like a snowmobile again, even though there won't be any riding for about 9 months!

I just finished an Ulmer Racing oilite bushing install in the front suspension. That bushing kit is fabulous. I can't believe how that tightened up the front end. Now I'll just have to do my steering blocks for the "total package".
