So i spoke with my dealer and he says he can get me into an 05' Vector Mnt. WITH the 162" x 16" track for 7300.00 (6200.00 with the 151x2" track ? Is this a good deal and would it be smarter to wait for 06' , is there any difference on the 06' version of the vector ?

The 162 X 16 was not offered on the '05 per the web site. That's a different sled for 06. I just paid $6,000 for an 05 demo with 360 miles on it, so $6,200 new is a good price IMO. the 06 Vector mtn will have a different seat ( with a little storage) and that is the only change I am aware of. The SE looks really interesting for a super charger add on. My 151 X 15 is not very quick so I would doubt the 120 hp motor will do very well with the larger track in stock mode.

is the 06's have wider tunnels or are they the same as 05.

If you look at the pictures on the Yamaha web site you will notice that the tunnels are totally different between the SE and the standard Mtn Vector. I don't think you would be able to get a 16" track in the standard Mtn Vector but I haven't measured mine. The 06 standard's tunnel looks exactly like my 05.

So the one response was questioning the power for the 162x16 track and it not being adequit ? Is this true , anyone have insight on this ? Also The dealer said for a thousand more , he would install the 162x16 track in the 05' vector for me , with extros for a TOTAL of $7200.00 for the 05' brand new . Would it do better with a 159x15 ? Or should I do the 162x16 and do some mods this summer if I do decide to get it (mods being pipes, filters , gears and clutch ? I'm thinking I can give it to the wife and get an 07' Apex next spring or Fall of 06' . Just a thought right now but starten to sound real good !!!!

As for the differences in tunnel: same except for the rear extension and drop bracket
As for track choice: I have 500 - 600km on a stock 05 Vector and the only sure bet is it needs a bigger track for soft snow
several short rides on the 06 Vector S.E.: I guarantee you that the bigger track did not hurt that sled one bit, it does not climb fast but the thing is like a mountain goat
As for upgrading an 05: I wouldn't, that handlebar and seat are worth their weight it gold, I always trip over the seat hump on the 05 seat
Also extroverts and Magnesium chaincase on S.E.
Also suspension is incomparable, 05 great, 06 greater
