So I'm snow checking an 07' sled but have been considering this idea the last few days, thought I'd post it and see if you guys/gals have some insight or thoughts I may not have considered.
Idea goes as follows:
Vector Mnt. RS , price $7500.00
1. 151" x 16" track or a 156" x 16" track with extro's and an MPI tunnel extension , cost : $1300.00 installed
2. Excell exhaust, header& pipe cost: ?? I think 700.00
3. Mnt. Mod seat or equivalent cost: 550.00
4. clutching/drop a tooth on top gear cost 400.00
5. Slydog or Simmons ski's 350.00
Total cost around $11,000.00
>>>>>
Now some other options I've considered, run stock seat and use Rox risers to role the bars forward a few inches saving 300.00 ? Next option keep stock ski's and do the Bergstrom set up, savers, carbides and shims saving a 150.00
Also could use factory clutching and just change it up to my needs , only dropping the top gear a tooth or two saving 250.00 .
Now I could use a hundred of this to do the light weight battery mod, relocation and put a skid plate on and hand guards ? I've also thought about going with Fabcraft 8" rear wheels and bogies thes all costing around 300.00 ?
I think for around $10,500.00 to $11,000.00 I could have a great crossover/Mnt. sled and down the road a year or two boost it. Anyone's opinions on these idea's appreciated, I have a few weeks to figure out exactly what I want before the snow check deadline. Thumbs Up

Ok, here is my opinion. I normally ride my RX1 but it was torn down this week for turbo so I rode the Vector mountain. 2' of fresh and sunshine. The sled is a fun sled, I love to jump it. It climbs on packed snow well due to good torque but if you get into powder (especially dry powder) you will have a tough time getting 30' up a steep hill. I had to poach tracks a lot to get around with my buddies. I think the longer track will help it float better than my wife's 151" but...............
For the money you are thinking of spending you would be way better off buying an apex or even better yet.....Like Kachess did, find a used rx1m for $4000, put a new skid (m7) on it with a 162" track, new skis, glasspack muffler, boss seat, raise the bars, lite battery, and you will only be in it about $6000 and you would have plenty of power and $4000 left for your turbo. It really is night and day difference between the two sleds. I would have had a ripping weekend on my rx1 but instead I rode around tentatively.
Good luck.

Vectors are sweet. You have a great idea to make it a crossover sled. The stock skis are great, factory clutching is great, everything else is a good idea.

I'd do the ROX riser like you said and to fix the stock skis, just put on a set of Woody's Dooleys. Then save up for the turbo or supercharger.

TRXSTER what are your thoughts on the 05' RX I have posted ?
from what i've read they boondock quite well, ask Alaskanvector he use's his for those reasons exactly! THX everyone for your feedback, '"TRXSTER" what do you think or the 05' RX-1 I mentioned in the other post on here for that amount with those extra's from the dealer and in comparison to an Apex will it be that much better for 1500 or 2000 more ? I imagine the Holz skid does better than a stock Apex ?
