It *should* be the male prong.Center terminal of your round end is positive. Don't know where that comes out on the other end.

Former Yamaha sleds:
2004 Venture 600 2002 SX Viper 700
1997 Vmax 600 SX 1994 Vmax 600 1989 Exciter
1986 Vmax 540 1986 Phaser 1981 SRX 440
If the Yamaha dealer doesn’t have any check with a Cat dealer they use the same cord. Center terminal is positive

I am pretty sure the female is the positive .It *should* be the male prong.
any idea how many amps the outlet at the chaincase is , as the stock attachment does not seem to have a inline fuse .

The female side on the sled end would be positive. In the picture of the cord that you posted, the male prong would be the positive side.

does a heated visor really care which wire is positive or negative ?The female side on the sled end would be positive. In the picture of the cord that you posted, the male prong would be the positive side.
So I found out no it doesn't matter .
Some people are changing from a 2 amp fuse to a 5 amp .
Does the 5 amp , allow the visor to heat up more ?

I doubt polarity would matter for the visor itself. My concern would be the connections. If the center is positive it would be protected and be less likely to short out. Here is a picture of my factory plug. If the outer ring was positive it could be easier to short out. I would make sure the center stays positive for that reason.

Apparently people are reversing it , so that when the cord pulls out the male end touches the frame and blows the inline fuse, if not reversed .I doubt polarity would matter for the visor itself.
