I am wiring my heated shield to the battery, I bought an inline fuse, does it matter if the inline fuse is heavier gauge wire then the rest of the wire on the plug? I am going to use the fuse right at the battery then it well step down to lighter gauge. Thanks

What matters is the fuse rating. You want the fuse to blow before the small gauge wire burns. The fuse that comes with the Yamaha plug for the face shield is 10A.
