Will most any performance camshaft that is made for the YZF R-1 streetbike engine fit the RX-1 snowmobile engine?

I would be led to believe that yes, it does, but has anybody here tried this?

cam shafts

last year i checked out the part numbers and they were the same in older rx 1,s as the r 1 but so are the apex cams. i have a couple of dyno rays cam,s that i am installing now. :flag:

I think the head has the ports where the carb boots clamp on is turned up on the bike motor and being the bike revs to about 12500 rpm's the cams are most likely different too, Ken.

Hi blackjohn who is dynoray and where is his shop, also how much for his cams, and did you do both intake and exhaust?? oh ya how much hp does he think you will pick up?

cams

cant say much yet as work has kept me from finishing off this project. but they deffently have way taller lift you can see with the neked eye. ahd ray own,s fundy power sports. do serch. super tuner allso sell cams. but this i know the harder it is to make somthing to fit the beter it woks. when building mod pipes for ower super mods you new it was the right pipe when there was no way it would fit in to the sled. and it allways seen to work this way. look up a post in the apex section (dynoed a stk apex to day)

cams

yes i am changeing both cams and valve springs and head gasket and i hade cut the pick up coil about a month ago to advace the ign timeing. note that these cams are my own cam,s that ray had reground to his own spec,s i whent with ray after talking ehit some of his costemers. as they could not hardly talk thro that ever lasting smile on there faces.

Fundy Power Sports makes an excellent cam/porting package for the RX-1 motor. With a thinner head gasket, advanced timing, cams, and porting he has made 175 hp on his dyno. I ran the above combination this summer and picked up from the stock RX-1 83-84 hp on our chassis dyno to 98-99 hp when properly clutched with the ported head and cams. Remember the chassis dyno reads the HP at the rear idlers (what you're putting to the ground). PM Dynoray on here and talk to Ray directly if you like.

I know Supertuner (AKA: Freddie Klies @ Eastern Cycle Performance) has also made some good improvements on the RX-1 engine as well.
