when i put the mcxpress turbo kit on my apex, am i going to have to run a mixture of race and premium fuel to be safe on the trails. I want the power but not the headache of worring about crashing the motor. On their webpage it doesn't say anything about race fuel just pumpgas.

Not sure the limit's on the Apex, but on the RX1 w/stock engine I run a mix of race fuel starting at 6psi to be ultra safe. I normally start the day on a tank of avgas@12psi, fill up at half a tank, turn the boost down to 9 or so, then if I need to fill again I turn it to the minimum (about 6).

FLYBYU - it is safe running on best available pump gas (93 octane premium US/98 octane RON Europe) making 260 HP at 12 lbs of boost.
Starting out with some race fuel is nice tho, I will do that when going out on a round trip
I do not know about pump gas quality in the US. Here in Scandinavia, my friends are running their Apexes at 310 HP on 98 pump gas RON, they have 10:1 Wiseco's installed tho in addition to the thick copper head gasket that comes with the kit.

use the boost calculator in the stickies to figure out your octane requirements

I am told a head shimmed Apex will run 12 psi on 91 octane pump fuel.

Again look at the sticky for octane regiuements, I would never run a stock motor at 12lbs on pump fuel, atleast not pump fuel in the u.s.

Agreed.
Sled guys try to skimp on octane, then wonder why there motor is broken. Always have some extra octane vs. not enough.
