Rage Owners What can you tell me about this sled?

We are looking at purchasing a new Rage, a 2005, or 06. Are there big differences from 05 to 06?

The person that will be the main rider has a knee that does not have much flexability. The layout of this sled seems to allow the leg to be stretched out a bit more than alot of the latest sleds. Anybody with knee issues- have you ridden this with comfort?

What is your overall opinion of the suspension on this sled?

What are the positives and downfalls of this model?

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

I have a 2005 Rage and it is a great sled. The main difference for 2006 is that they changed to a new rear suspension, but mine rides nice. I think the new one is supposed to be 10-15 pounds lighter as well, but an amount that small would not be noticeable to the average rider. Otherwise it depends on the prices. If you can get a good deal on a carry-over model I would not hesitate.

The positives of this sled include the longer 136" track which makes it ride smoother and offers better floatation in deeper snow. It is not a mountain sled, but will do better off trail then a short track model. The sled handles well and seems lighter then what it really is. Also, you get all the advantages of the 4 stroke, but you probably already knew that.

The main negatives would be that this sled will weigh more then a short track model and for some it might require a little more muscle in corners, etc., but nothing like a mountain long track. The clutch has a rattle that they have offered a fix for, but the rattle does not hurt the operation of the sled. I don't know if this has been fixed for 2006 or not. The last issue is that some people had problems with the TORS cutting out, but I never did. The Rage for the most part does not have the track howl that some have with the shorter models. I don't know about the 2006 model however because it uses a new suspension in the rear.

Overall the negatives are pretty minor and are small things that can be fixed. The overall sled is great and is well built. It has perfect fit and finsh and looks sharp.

The Rage seems to get lost with all the hype on the other sleds, but it got very good reviews from some of the mag's last year!! I only racked up 500+ miles last year but I was very pleased over all. My sled now has all the updates done which leaves me with 0 complaints. I do have knee issues and almost went with a Attack but I didn't feel that there was enough of a difference, plus I don't really need the extra HP and I still like the looks and functionality(access to engine) of the "older" style. What I can tell you is my knees hurt way less on the Rage then on my AC Pantera and I rarely had any joint pain even after a long day.

I have also read that the 2006 model has a slightly higher seat hieght which makes the transition to standing a little easier. This may be more noticable to someone with a bum knee. I don't own a Rage...yet!! But I'm very seriously considering one. I have looked around quite a bit and I'm sure it's the sled for me.

Are there big differences from 05 to 06?

Monoshock rear skid rather than the 05's proaction

11mm front sway bar, rather than the '05s 10mm. ($60 upgrade).

I like my Rage. I'm still trying to get it dialed in. But the ride of the 136" track was great when I demoed it back to back with the vector. And I didn't notice a big handling hit.

i put 3628mi on my 05 rage and all i can say is wow. i set my sled up a little bit on the hard side for jumps and ditches so the ride to me isnt really an issue. i dont know if the mono shock is worth the $$ upgrade but if u want a plush ride, go with an 06. if u or ur friend has any problems with the back or knees/ankles i'd recommend gettin the 06

I dumped my 05 Rev this year for that very same reason, my knees are torn up from an old motorcycle accident and that thing killed me. The Vector allows me to streach my legs almost all the way straight. I have yet to ride my new pride and joy but I know my knee position will no longer be an issue. Good luck, ps I would get the 06 with the mono. ;)!

:yam: I have the New 06 my husband has the 05,we went out in Oct. and rode 30 miles,we swaped back and forth. The 06 is much cusher ride then the 05,not as stiff on the bumps, and you can stretch your legs out,the 06 is much better transition from sit to stand with a bum knee.I like the fact you can dial it in right on the side as you need to,cushen some of the bumps. :4STroke:

Gotta Love Lake Affect!

Thanks for all of the replies about the Rage. I think we will be taking the plunge after the holiday weekend. It just may have to be the 06.

I am hoping that the increased comfort will mean lots more rides together this season! :D

Its snowing here too :D

Its been snowing all day.

If this is any indication of the winter to come we will be in good shape.

Everyone else is looking at the ads for the "Day after Thanksgiving" sale.

We're figuring out when the dealership opens! :D

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

love my Rage! As far as seat hieght I know some guys are taking the seat off and taking out the staples undernieth and putting in 2 inches of foam and getting the same effect as the 06 so if the price difference is large and your budget is small do a search in here to find the seat upgrade. Sounds very simple to do .
