Just wondering how often a person should be replacing rings in these engines. I have about 8100km on mine, its not using any amount of oil (maybe 200ml every 1000km, wich I change the oil at that point anyway). I did a compression test (dry) and got 190 across the board(yes, dead nuts even on my mac tools compression tester), but it seemed to be turning over quite slow(will try with freshly charged bat). Also have yet to do a leakdown or wet test. Plugs all look good, I am at 2400' above sea level, is there some sort of formula for elevation corection when doing compression testing? Should I quit worrying about these things untill I get another 8000km on it?

It starts great, even when at -20.

Just thought It would be good to have some insight from the more experienced here.

you dont say what year rx you have. the 03 and some 04's had bad rings and started to use oil. the 05's seemed to be fine. i re-ringed my 03 with 12000 miles on it. my 05 uses about half a liter in 3000 miles(season), and thats normal with the amount of wide open 20 plus mile runs it gets. just drive yours and dont worry about it.

Sounds like your engine is in good shape, Ride and Enjoy! :)

I have an 03 that goes through about 1/2 qt every thousand miles or so. Right now it runs great and i have no reason to re-ring the engine. If the consumption goes up, possibly, but right now its fine.
