I just got home from a short ride and noticed that there seems to be yellow grease? around the bearings of the rear axle in the suspension. Could the bearings really have broken and started to leak after just 70 miles??? Anyone have any similar experiences?

Probably just some leakage from getting warm. Check the wheels for side to side play, if there's no play ride it.

There is some play when moving wheels from side to side. Never heard of bearings leaking. Shouldn't they be sealed?

They are sealed but the seal isn't perfect. That's how water gets in. You will see a little play on all bearings. Check another sled to see if the play is the same. Honestly ,with only 70 miles on the sled, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

wheels
I just pulled my skid on my 06 apex. Do it every winter before our big weekend...Few wheels had grumblimg bearings. The middle rear one was leaking grease and was noisy. pulled the wheel off and found the bearing was shattered in 3 pieces. amazing it even rolled. (this was a new bearing I installed the beginning of last winter)..So for piece of mind pull the wheel and check it out.....

Took a closer look. It can actually be the seal of the bearing which is red/orange that bled color to ice/snow that was stuck between bearing and wheel.

I always check/add grease to new and used bearings and if you add to much, it will leak out or pop the seal.
Also, seen it many times where brand new bearings have hardly any grease in them but only a few that seemed to have too much.
