Does anyone know if the new plastic storage rack made for the viper will go on my 14 xtx? I plan on using the exhaust turnouts and want some kind of rack on the tunnel to put stuff on. Any ideas?

I have been looking at being able to carry additional gas on the back of my 2015 Apex XTX , and this is what I have come up with .
Yes , the turnouts are mandatory , and may even need custom turnouts , as the Yamaha ones may not be long enough for this set up.

appears to
fit, is the Up North Technologies Inc. , Lab-100 Universal Linq Adapter bracket .
If mounted as far back on the tunnel as possible , it appears that the Linq Ski Doo gas can will fit on ,or other Linq bags etc .
I already bought the above pictured Yamaha Premium Trunk bag , for longer trips , but I seem to always need additional gas for my sons Polaris race sled with a small trail tank .
Look into my proposed set up , and give me your feedback.

Do you have a picture of this rack installed?

Here is a pic of what I want to use for a rack.View attachment 110822
I do not have a picture of my proposed set up , as I was trying to see if anyone else has the same or similar set up ,but did not get any response on this site .
I was going to get a set of the turnouts , and install them , and then borrow a Linq gas tank from a friend , and set it on the tunnel, to see how it would work , before I go out and buy the universal adapter .
There are a number of different variations of holes to install , that that should not be the issue .
I think the biggest concern is the positioning of the gas can or bag , relative to the exhaust .

That Yamaha rack , you pictured , appears way too big for the size of our tunnel . It is for a Viper , that has way more tunnel to attach to.
You might be able to attach it to the tunnel , at the front half or third of the rack , but then it would hang out over and beyond the bumper , and may not be safe done that way .
Some people use the saddle bags for carrying gas and other things , but I don't like the look of that set up .
There are pics of this set up on various posts , if you are interested in that option .
Let me know what you decide .
As soon as I decide , and have any pics to share , I will send you .

OMG , its almost November , first sled show of the season is this weekend , and snow will be coming sooner than later .
I better get going on this project , and the others I have planned .

You are right, there isn't enough room on the xtx for that viper rack. U really only have 8 inches of tunnel. I've been to 2 dealers asking about a rack and they know nothing. I would like to just get a small rack so I could put stuff in it especially when ice fishing or put a small gas can for riding. I can't believe nobody makes one! Maybe it's just not safe even with the exhaust turn outs.

There must be a set up that is safe , as the one picture shows that flat gas can , with no turnouts .

The rear of the XTX is not made to carry alot of weight. A gallon or two of gas is about it.

My XTX has the turnouts (custom made) and I use the flat Roto-Pax i think its like 1.5 gallon. I may have used it once for myself.
