Ok. What are the tricks for reinstalling the skid on an 06? Front first? I got the back bolts in easy enough but had a hell ofa time with the fronts.
Any tips?
Will

Front first. If its a mono unbolt transfer rod and the back will line right up.

Unbolt transfer rod and bottom of limiter strap. Place block of wood under front and use wedge to widen tunnel slightly so front arm swings easy without hitting any rivets.

X2, that's the trick for sure, it goes in pretty easy with the rod unbolted.

Widening the tunnel a tad does help a lot, otherwise the three rivets do get in the way making it tough to line up the front bolts.

I did my GT here a week ago...unbolted the limiter stap and put the rear bolts in first. The front bolts slid in with no trouble. I was amazed. It literally took longer to put the skid in the track.

Last night we did my buds apex LTX...did it the same way and it took 5 minutes. Again, it took more muscle to get the skid in the track. I will aways put apex skids in this way from now on. I couldn't believe you would put the rear in first but it really works!

I think yamaha put them in the way to bugs us. Lol

i put the front on first and then connected a ratchet strap from the suspension arm to the front frame...snug the strap tight and then ratchet it 2 or 3 times past that and it will line right up. worke like a charm for me.

Rear bolts first? Who would have thunk! I will give it a try when I reinstall my skid which is currently removed for my "maintenance project".

Do I only have to unbolt the front limiter strap and not the transfer rod?

I've always had to undo liter strap and transfer rod.

Where do you strap the "liter" to? LOL!

Sorry, I knew what you meant, I just could not resist! Did you do the rear bolts first?

Looks like you have some snow up there with more on the way tonight. I can not wait to get up to my place on Big Pequaywan near Brimson. Hopefully there will be enough snow up there soon for the trail grooming to start. Everything should be frozen up good by now.

Sorry Blue, meant limiter strap.

And we only got a whole whopping 3/4" of snow last night, much less than expected. And it's been warm, so things are frozen but some ice is sketchy, especially anywhere there's current.

We need to pray for freezing cold and then 18" of wet heavy snow. We have a long way to go before there's any trails open or grooming.

I'm traveling up to Finland, MN this weekend to visit the relatives and I'm not even bringing the sleds with. It's ridiculous. But I am going to walk some of snowmobile trails to see how close they are up there.

Ive ridden to Finfest in Finland before on sled. Last year by this time I had a few hundred miles on my sled up in the north shore area.

Thanks for the clarification on unbolting both the limiter strap and transfer rod. Did you do the rear or front bolts first?
