I want to remove the skid so I can take out the rear shocks to get them revalved and grease up the skid really well. I see there are only 4 bolts holding it up but what I want to know is there any tips or tricks to making the removal and then install of the skid easier. Easier to remove front before rear bolts? Sled need to be on a lift or just rear end up? I'm more concerned about putting it back in. Everything usually comes out a lot easier than it goes back in.

You can take the shocks out with out removing the skid. Just unbolt the front limiter straps and unhook the rear torsion springs. Other wise once you get the four mount bolts out tip it on it's side perferably the oil tank side to keep oil from running into the air box and pull the front out first. to install loosen the rear axle all the way and unhook the rear torsion springs. start from the back and go to the front. once it is in the tunnel install the front bolts first then the rear. it helps if you apply the park brake to align the rear bolt holes and use a pry bar in between the track windows and aginst the rear torque arm for alingment.

Just did mine. Had the rear end lifted up. Loosened the track as far as I could. I used 1 ratchet strap to hold the top of the track up. Then I used 2 ratchet straps to compress the skid. Unbolted and wiggled it out. Was easy really.
Now, getting it back in alone is another story. Wasn't really hard just, took some wiggling around to get the wholes lined up.
One thing I will mention, when I removed the rear bolts, one side spun. I had to use channel locks to hold the body on the inside of the tunnel to get the bolt out. Where the upper wheel is.
