Removing the fixed primary sheave

What are you guys using to hold the primary clutch assembly in place while removing the stationary sheave? I made a spanner wrench to lock on to the sheave but would like to see some ideas on what you are using to hold the clutch in place. Thanks

Sheave, It take a special tool to hold it, If you are good with a welder and some steel you can make one, There was a guy on here that even made one from pieces of wood. Or go to your dealer they will separate it for you for a few $$

I can make what ever I need from steel but some photos whould be helpful. I make all my specialty tools as the price for some of these tools are way over priced. Thanks

I used a 6 inch spare pipe with cuts in it so the spider sits in it nice, then weld a plate on the top and weld on a 1/2" drive socket, so you can use a long breaker bar, The other half is a large plate with steel nubs to fit the back side of the sheave. I will try to take some pics after the holiday.

clutch holder

I built a clutch holder on a piece of plywood and it works great, I found the directions for making it on the 2 stroke side, Basically you attach some wood blocks spaced out so the clutch spider fits into it, you have to heat the piece, then i attached a 1" sq steel tubing to the back side of the fixed sheave to un-bolt the spider from the fixed sheave. If you can't find it send me your email and i will send you some pictures of what I have. I've used it on three clutches so far with no issues. It took me about an hour to piece the holder together.

just remember that the fixed sheave is left hand thread, so lefty loosey righty tighty does not apply.
