I have read the stickie above. Anything I should I should do using the copper donuts instead of stock?

Replacing right side Y pipe due to cracked flange. thanks

You have to replace both sides of Ypipes. Yami has SS pipes now and they will hold up in the long run. Your OEM Titanium pipes don't cut it. The all crack.

Are you suggesting to buy a new set of SS y pipes from Yamaha? Will the other crack too? I was going to find another stock pipe and change it. Who's got the best price and where? Thanks.

So if all titanium pipes crack then why does both my 06 Attaks still have the Ti pipes with no cracks? Have install new donuts to both sleds. One has over 6500 miles on it. Seems your statement has some flaws besides spelling.

Some things aren't worth bothering at times like spell check. Your on borrowed time with your pipes.

Your not rideing it hard enough and 6500 is borrowed time by the time you replace the donuts the second time they almost always have a bad flange or two. the ss pipes are proven to be better even yamaha excepts this for tears now thats why they dont offer the ti pipes anymore. too many YES cliams on them.

I've never been told i dont ride hard enough. I've had several friends stop riding with me as they don't like the pace I lead them at. The donuts were just replaced at 6000 miles for the first time, I don't plan on having this sled long enough to worry about the donuts again. The donuts i use are the OEM ones with the stainless bolt. I've seen several damaged y pipes on friends sleds and to me it seems what causes the damage is when the donut fails and the donut clamp starts rotating/vibrating on the flange and wears it thin to where it breaks or creates a hole.

I hope they keep holding for you at least untill you sell it many have replaced donuts just to find they have a bad y pipe 5-800 miles later. I hope this is not the case for you and every now and then you get stories of sleds that do last a long time on donuts and pipes you may be one of the lucky ones. certianly meant no offense but your one off results dont change the fact that most even with proper maintiance fail.

i think they will crack permaturely if you let the gasket wear too much and get loose. if you replace them as soon as you hear the leak you will be able to extend the life of the y pipes. I guess I will see if mine crack, it now has 8000km. I filed the spacer(and added locite to the stud threads) on the clamps before reinstalling the gaskets to make sure they go on nice and tight to prevent them from coming loose.

I agree. I have 10k miles on my sled with Ti pipes. One set was replaced because gaskets were worn too much by previous owner. Once gasket wears enough the pipes will start banging the flex pipes or they move enough to get sheared by the clamp. Absent the movement they're fine IMO.

Not sure myself what riding hard, or not riding hard, would have to do with the frequency of donut changes? I would think only miles would really matter when it came to determining when the donuts need replacing, not on how hard the sled was ridden? (could be wrong however?)

I noticed the spun clamp on mine when I did them and said to myself, that is the bad one.
