Has anyone tried the Retrax retractable wheels for your skis? I am interested but looking for some feedback from actual users.

Several of my riding buddys have Retrax and one other brand. They like them for crossing roads, gas stations etc. For the most part, I don't think they're worth the trouble unless you riding in a low snow area. Just my opinion and I could be wrong.

Had retrax wheels for my ski-doo, and now have them on my 2006 Yamaha Vector. Wheels are mainly good in the spring when lots of road running happens, or turning around at the gas station. Also nice if you store your machine inside on concrete for the summer, very easy to move around without the wheels popping off like with dollies. I've had my Yamaha wheels for one winter now and fortunately didn't get to use them much except in the garage, a ton of snow this winter. I will be trading my sled in this winter for a new sled( don't bash me, probably not a Yammi) so I will be removing my retrax wheels and selling them. If you are interested , let me know.

They are really good for use at the Gas Station, going down the road a bit, or moving in and out of the garage.
But you are not going to want to get off all the time to put them down and put them up.
If you are going to use Retrax on a Yamaha 4 stroke make sure you order them with the with heavy duty arms
As the sled is front heavy and will bend the arms over time.
As for warranty Retrax Rebuilt mine with Heavy arms for no charge.
Alternative to Retrax is http://www.skiwheelz.com/
They are easier to use and usually you only need to put them down.
But much more $$$ and to do the same thing.
If you have a Bad Back, or if they are for the wife spend the money. (trust me on this)
Get the Automatic Retrax http://www.retrax.net/video/video.html
Please note all of them kick up snow if you like going off trail or if the trail has lots of loose stuff.
