Hey Guys,

I'm in the process of fixing a wrecked 2012 Apex XTX. I'm replacing the handlebars and my question is, has anyone successfully removed and reinstalled the grip heaters?

According to the microfiche these grips appear to be seperate heating element and outer grip. The outer grips are cheap but the heaters are $50 a side and I would like to reuse them if at all possible.

Any thoughts or tips? I removed the rivets and put a good pull on them to no avail, thought I'd ask before I get any more forceful with them.

some times i get way with saving them other times no . i put 12v right to the grip and that heats up the glue and with a good pull they will come off. WEAR GLOVES the grip is so hot it will burn you, good luck and hope that helped

X2 as above, I carefully cut off the rubber grip, turn on the heaters or use a heat gun to warm up the glue and carefully start to peel the heating element. The few times I have reused them they keep enough of the tackiness to reset them on the new bars. I smothered them in two part epoxy and slid on new grips. I keep everything taped off to keep the mess to a minimum, put in a new rivet and your good to go.

Hot water works the best for me when removing the grip heaters. It helps loosen the adhesive and also keeps the adhesive from sticking to the bar or your hands when peeling them off

What if you are replacing the grips. Will they slide off and leave the grip heaters intact?

I need to do this on my phazer, and probably the Apex after another season.

Use hot water or a heat gun to warm up the grips and wiggle them back and forth as you work them to the end of the bar. I find that the end of the grip usually has alot of glue on it and I end up tearing it off at the end of the bar. The heaters remain undamaged.
