Reverse lever freezing up. (Any fix)

The lever for rev was frozen when i tried to use it, could not even pull it out with 2 hands. At home i took of the panel and needed to use screw driver on the inside to get it to move. The lever shaft was frozen to the barrel shaft. Anyone else have this happen?

It was cold out, but any fixes, pack it with good low temp grease?

Have to stop rideing in deep snow I use PAM Cooking oil
